Every server, application and mailbox we host is watched 24/7 by engineers in York, protected by a web application firewall and DDoS mitigation, and patched on a schedule you control. This is what's running underneath our hosting and backup plans.
A Security Operations Centre, intrusion detection and a tuned web application firewall sit in front of everything we host, backed by continuous vulnerability scanning.
01
24/7 Security Operations Centre
Engineers watch every monitored environment around the clock, triaging alerts and acting within minutes of a genuine threat.
Included on every plan
Managed Cloud adds full SOC incident response
UK-based team, not outsourced
02
SIEM & log monitoring
Centralised logging and correlation across servers, firewalls and applications with real-time alerting on anomalies.
Cross-system correlation
Alert triage before escalation
Retained logs for audit
03
Intrusion detection & prevention
Host and network-based IDS/IPS blocks suspicious traffic and known attack patterns before they reach your systems.
Available from VPS upward
Automated blocking of known bad actors
Reviewed by an engineer, not just a dashboard
04
WAF & DDoS protection
Always-on network-level DDoS mitigation paired with a web application firewall tuned against the OWASP Top 10.
No setup required
Scales automatically under attack
Tuned per application, not generic rules
05
Vulnerability scanning
Continuous and monthly scans identify exposed services, outdated software and misconfigurations before attackers find them.
Monthly reports supplied
Prioritised by severity
Feeds directly into patching
06
Patch management
OS and software patches tested in a staging environment then applied on a schedule that fits your business, with emergency patching for critical issues.
Scheduled maintenance windows
Out-of-cycle critical patches
Change log provided
Not sure your current provider is actually watching anything? We'll review your setup.
Access control, email and certificates, locked down properly
Beyond monitoring, day-to-day hardening closes the gaps attackers actually use: weak access, spoofed email and expired certificates.
01
Access control & MFA
Enforced multi-factor authentication, least-privilege access and a full audit trail of who did what, and when.
MFA enforced on admin accounts
Role-based access
Session logging
02
Email security
Spam, phishing and malware filtering on hosted mail, with SPF, DKIM and DMARC configured to stop your domain being spoofed.
Inbound and outbound scanning
Anti-phishing filters
Domain authentication set up for you
03
SSL certificate advisory & management
We tell you which certificate you actually need, then supply, install and renew it on platforms we host so it never lapses.
Advisory on single, wildcard and multi-domain certs
Renewal before expiry, on platforms we host
EV certs and third-party servers looked into through our partners
04
Encryption everywhere
TLS in transit and encryption at rest across every environment we manage, as a baseline, not an upsell.
TLS on all hosted services
Encrypted storage volumes
Secure key handling
05
Penetration testing support
We help coordinate penetration testing through trusted partners and act on the findings against your infrastructure.
Scheduling and access coordination
Remediation of findings
Re-test support
06
Security reviews
Periodic reviews of configuration, access and exposed services, with a plain-English report of what to fix next.
Scheduled or on-demand
Prioritised findings
Follow-up actions tracked
// Compliance
Support for GDPR, Cyber Essentials Plus and PCI DSS
We won't claim a certification we don't hold, but we will put in the configuration, monitoring and evidence your assessor asks for, and work alongside whoever runs your audit.
We map your compliance target — GDPR, Cyber Essentials Plus or PCI DSS support — against your current infrastructure.
02
Harden & configure
Access controls, patching, logging and encryption are brought up to the standard your framework requires.
03
Evidence & reporting
Vulnerability scan reports, patch logs and signed data processing agreements are prepared for your auditor.
04
Ongoing support
Monitoring and scanning continue so compliance isn't a one-off exercise but a standing state.
// Incident response
A defined process when something goes wrong
Security incidents are rare precisely because of the monitoring above — but when one happens, the response is practised, not improvised.
01
Detect
24/7 monitoring and SIEM correlation flag anomalous activity the moment it starts, not the next morning.
02
Contain
Affected systems are isolated to stop lateral movement while the investigation runs, minimising business impact.
03
Eradicate & recover
The root cause is removed and clean data is restored from backup where needed, with services brought back online in order of priority.
04
Report & harden
You receive a full written incident report with root cause, timeline and the changes made to prevent a repeat.
Regular security reviews
Configuration, access lists and exposed services are periodically reviewed by an engineer, with a plain-English report of what needs attention next — not a 40-page scan dump.
Security meets backup
Every environment we secure is also backed up hourly to an immutable, off-site UK copy — so a contained incident never means lost data. See backups & disaster recovery.
Is security monitoring included with hosting, or an add-on?
Every plan includes 24/7 monitoring as standard. VPS and above add intrusion detection, and Managed Cloud includes a full SOC with incident response built into the price.
How do you protect against DDoS attacks?
Always-on network-level DDoS mitigation sits in front of every platform we host, backed by a web application firewall that filters malicious traffic before it reaches your application.
Do you supply and install SSL certificates?
Yes, on the platforms we host for you — we supply, install and renew them before they expire. Extended validation certificates, complex chains, or certificates on servers we don't host are looked into through our partners.
Can you advise which certificate we actually need?
Yes. Tell us your domains and how they're used — a single site, a wildcard, multiple subdomains or payment pages — and we'll recommend what's genuinely required, whether you buy it from us or elsewhere.
Do you help with Cyber Essentials Plus or PCI DSS?
Yes. We support your Cyber Essentials Plus and PCI DSS requirements with hardened configurations, patch evidence, vulnerability scan reports and signed data processing agreements for your auditor.
What happens if there's a security incident?
Our engineers contain the threat, isolate affected systems, restore clean data from backup and give you a full written incident report with root cause and remediation steps — day or night.
How often do you patch servers?
Operating system and software patches are tested and applied on a scheduled cadence, with critical and zero-day patches deployed out of cycle as soon as a fix is verified.
Do you run vulnerability scans?
Yes. Continuous and monthly vulnerability scanning is run across the infrastructure we manage, with reports you can hand straight to your own compliance process.
Is email security included?
Yes. Spam filtering, phishing detection and malware scanning are applied to hosted mail, with DMARC, SPF and DKIM configured to stop domain spoofing.
Where is the Security Operations Centre based?
Our SOC and support engineers work from York, UK. You speak to an engineer who knows your infrastructure, not an overseas call centre reading a script.
// Next step
Find out what's actually watching your infrastructure.
Our York-based engineers will review your current setup and show you where 24/7 monitoring, WAF and compliance support fit against your Business, VPS, Dedicated or Managed Cloud plan.
