// About Digital Hosting Services

A York company trusted with serious infrastructure

We're a York-based hosting and IT infrastructure company, founded in 2009 and built around larger organisations that need their technology to simply work. We've spent over 15 years keeping businesses across the UK online, and we still answer the phone ourselves.

// Our story

Built to be the opposite of a faceless hosting provider

Digital Hosting Services started in York with a simple frustration: hosting companies that hid behind ticket systems and treated enterprise customers like account numbers, no matter how much infrastructure they ran.

We set out to be the opposite — a hosting and IT infrastructure partner where you know the engineers by name, where advice is honest, and where business-critical infrastructure is genuinely looked after, not monitored by a dashboard nobody reads.

Today we look after over 500 websites and the IT infrastructure of organisations across the whole of the UK — from single-site companies to multi-site, multi-brand groups. The approach hasn't changed: do it properly, and be straightforward to deal with.

York roots, UK-wide reach

Our office is in York, and our infrastructure runs in secure UK data centres. Our engineers travel to client sites anywhere in the UK for surveys, projects and incidents, with the same engineers handling your account throughout.

Built for business-critical environments

Backups are tested, changes are documented, and security is treated as a baseline requirement rather than an add-on — because the organisations we work with can't afford it any other way.

// What we stand for

Values that shape how we work

These aren't slogans on a wall — they're how every account, migration and support call is handled.

01

Honest advice

We recommend what's right for your business, not what inflates an invoice. Sometimes that means telling a client they need less infrastructure, not more.

  • No upsell targets
  • Plain-English recommendations
  • Scope matched to risk
02

Named engineers, not ticket queues

Every account is handled by engineers who know your environment, not a rotating first-line team working from a script.

  • Named account engineer
  • Direct contact, not a portal
  • Continuity across your contract
03

Done properly, the first time

We don't cut corners on hardware, security or backups. Your operations depend on this infrastructure, and we treat it accordingly.

  • Tested backups
  • Documented change control
  • No shortcuts on security

// Our team

A team of engineers, not a call centre

Eight in-house engineers cover hosting, networks, security and infrastructure projects. Every client is assigned a named contact who knows their setup, backed by the rest of the team when you need extra hands.

Named account engineers

A consistent point of contact for your organisation, not a rotating queue.

Cross-trained specialists

Hosting, networking, security and backup expertise under one roof.

In-house, UK-based

No offshore outsourcing — our engineers work from York.

Direct escalation

Senior engineers are reachable directly when an issue needs them.

// Who we work with

Built around the needs of larger organisations

We work with businesses across the UK where downtime, data loss or weak security have real operational and financial consequences.

01

Professional & financial services

Firms handling client data and regulatory obligations that need demonstrable security, resilience and audit trails.

02

Retail & e-commerce

Trading platforms where downtime has a direct revenue cost and traffic spikes need headroom, not a support call.

03

Manufacturing & logistics

Multi-site operations running line-of-business systems that depend on reliable connectivity and infrastructure.

04

Healthcare & care providers

Organisations with sensitive records and continuity requirements that can't tolerate unplanned outages.

05

Multi-site & group companies

Businesses with several locations or brands needing a single infrastructure partner across the group.

06

Public sector & membership bodies

Organisations that need clear reporting, predictable costs and a supplier that understands procurement processes.

// Our approach to partnerships

How we work with you, from first conversation onward

Enterprise infrastructure relationships need structure as much as technical skill. This is the process behind every account we manage.

  1. 01

    We start with an infrastructure review

    Before we propose anything, we look at what you actually have: current hosting, dependencies, risk points and how your business uses it day to day.

  2. 02

    You get a named engineer, not a case number

    Your account is assigned to engineers who know your setup and stay with your contract — the same people pick up the phone each time.

  3. 03

    Changes go through proper process

    Infrastructure changes are planned, documented and scheduled around your business, with rollback plans in place before anything moves.

  4. 04

    We review, not just react

    Regular reviews cover performance, capacity and security posture, so your infrastructure keeps pace with your organisation rather than falling behind it.

Frequently asked questions

Can't see your question? Ask an engineer.

Where is Digital Hosting Services based?

We're based at English House just outside York, with our servers in secure UK data centres. We work with organisations across the whole of the UK — on-site where it matters, and remotely everywhere else.

Do you only work with large companies?

Our team and processes are built around the needs of larger, more complex organisations — multiple sites, stricter compliance, change control and procurement requirements — but we scale our approach to fit the business in front of us.

How long has the company been operating?

Digital Hosting Services was founded in 2009. We've spent over 15 years hosting infrastructure and supporting IT for organisations that can't afford downtime.

Who will we actually be dealing with day to day?

A named account engineer who understands your setup, backed by our wider team of eight engineers. You won't be routed through a first-line script or an anonymous ticket queue.

Can you work alongside our existing internal IT team?

Yes. Many of our enterprise clients keep an internal IT function and bring us in for hosting, infrastructure projects or specialist cover. We're used to working as part of a wider team, not replacing one.

Do you hold any specific accreditations?

We're happy to walk you through our security practices, data centre standards and operational processes directly — ask your account engineer for the detail relevant to your procurement or due diligence process.

How do you handle due diligence and procurement for larger contracts?

We regularly complete supplier questionnaires, security assessments and contract reviews for enterprise procurement teams. We'll assign a point of contact to work through your process with you.

What happens if we outgrow our current setup?

Infrastructure reviews are part of how we work with every client on an ongoing basis, so scaling up — or changing direction — is a planned conversation, not an emergency.
