Hourly backups, immutable off-site UK copies and monthly restore tests mean recovery isn't a theory — it's a process we run and prove every month, backed by engineers in York.
A backup that nobody has restored from is a guess. Ours are hourly, kept off-site in a separate UK data centre, immutable against ransomware, and verified by a real restore every month.
01
Hourly automated backups
Files, databases and full server images are captured hourly across every plan, with no manual step for you to remember.
Runs automatically in the background
Covers files, databases and full images
No performance impact on production
02
Retention from 30 to 365 days
Keep enough history to recover from problems that aren't noticed immediately, with retention matched to your plan.
30 days on Business Hosting
Longer retention on VPS, Dedicated and Managed Cloud
Point-in-time recovery within the window
03
Immutable, off-site copies
Backup copies are stored in a separate UK data centre and locked against modification, so ransomware can't reach them.
Separate physical location from live data
Write-once, cannot be altered or deleted
Protects against both attackers and accidents
04
Ransomware protection
Because backups are immutable and isolated, an encryption attack on your live servers leaves a clean, untouched copy to restore from.
Air-gapped from production credentials
Clean restore point always available
Reduces ransom leverage to near zero
05
Monthly restore testing
We perform and document a real restore every month, so you have evidence recovery works instead of an assumption.
Documented, repeatable process
Evidence suitable for compliance
Issues caught before you ever need a live restore
06
Disaster recovery, RPO from 15 minutes
For workloads that can't lose more than minutes of data, DR plans replicate to a secondary site with failover built in.
Recovery point objectives from 15 minutes
Documented failover procedure
Available on Managed Cloud and Dedicated
Ask us to check whether your current backups would actually restore.
Microsoft 365, applications and business continuity
Backup coverage extends past the server to the cloud services and plans your business depends on day to day.
01
Microsoft 365 backup
Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams data backed up independently of Microsoft's native retention, which is built for compliance holds, not disaster recovery.
Mailbox and attachment-level restore
Independent of Microsoft's own retention limits
Protects against accidental deletion and sync errors
02
Full server & image backups
Complete server images let us rebuild an entire environment on new hardware, not just recover individual files.
Bare-metal and VM image restore
Used for both disaster recovery and migrations
Tested as part of monthly restore checks
03
Application & database backups
Database-consistent backups for transactional workloads, so a restore doesn't leave you with corrupted or half-written records.
Transaction-consistent snapshots
Supports major database engines
Granular table or schema restore on request
04
Business continuity planning
We work with you to document recovery priorities, responsibilities and target timescales before an incident happens, not during one.
Priority order for restoring services
Clear roles and escalation contacts
Reviewed annually or after major change

// Recovery process
What happens when you need to restore
Recovery follows the same documented process every time, run by the engineers who already know your environment.
You contact our York engineers directly — day or night — and we identify exactly what needs restoring and from when.
02
Select restore point
We pick the right hourly snapshot or pre-incident point, confirming scope with you before anything is touched.
03
Restore & verify
Files, databases or full server images are restored, then verified for integrity before being handed back.
04
Post-incident review
You receive a short report on what happened and what, if anything, should change to reduce the risk of a repeat.
// Disaster recovery
For workloads that can't afford to lose data
Business continuity planning and disaster recovery go hand in hand with backup — one protects data, the other protects the business around it.
01
Assess
We identify which systems need the tightest recovery point objective and which can tolerate a longer window.
02
Replicate
Critical workloads replicate continuously to a secondary UK site, ahead of a full disaster scenario.
03
Plan
A written business continuity plan sets out priorities, responsibilities and target timescales agreed with you.
04
Rehearse
Plans are reviewed and, where appropriate, tested — not left in a drawer until the day they're needed.
Backups work alongside security monitoring
Backups are your last line of defence, not your first. They sit behind the 24/7 monitoring, WAF and intrusion detection described on our security page, and on top of the infrastructure we run from York.
Hourly, on every plan. Full server images, files and databases are captured automatically with no action needed from you.
How long are backups kept for?
Retention runs from 30 days up to 365 days depending on your plan, so you can recover from an incident noticed weeks after it happened, not just yesterday's mistake.
Are backups protected from ransomware?
Yes. Backups are immutable and stored off-site in a separate UK data centre, so an attacker who compromises your live systems cannot encrypt, alter or delete the backup copies.
Do you actually test that restores work?
Yes. We run documented restore tests every month on managed plans, so recovery is proven in advance rather than discovered to be broken during a real outage.
What's your recovery point objective?
Disaster recovery plans offer recovery points from 15 minutes, with failover to a secondary site for workloads that can't tolerate longer gaps in data.
Do you back up Microsoft 365?
Yes. Mailboxes, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams data can be backed up independently of Microsoft's own retention policies, which are not a substitute for a real backup.
Can we restore a single file, or only the whole server?
Both. Engineers can recover an individual file, mailbox or database table, or roll back an entire server to a specific hourly snapshot.
Where are backup copies physically stored?
In a UK data centre separate from your live environment, so a single site incident — fire, power loss, hardware failure — can't take out both your production data and your backups.
What does business continuity planning involve?
We document recovery priorities, responsibilities and target timescales with you in advance, so if an incident happens everyone knows the plan rather than improvising on the day.
How is this different from a basic snapshot tool?
A snapshot sitting on the same server isn't a backup. Ours are hourly, immutable, off-site, retention-managed and restore-tested monthly by an engineer — a snapshot is none of those things on its own.
